About

Hello!

My name is Emily. I am a vintage loving, stay- at-home daughter who is currently not planning to go to college. I spend half of my day as a nanny/housemaid, and the rest either helping about the house or engaged in a variety of activities. In my spare time I love to sew, read, play piano, knit, crochet, and occasionally paint with watercolors. (And usually spend a lot of time on the computer browsing blogs or perusing Pinterest. . .)

Something I want you all to know right from the get-go: I am a Christian. No, I do not claim to be perfect. Far from it! I know that I have serious issues and as many problems as any other human being on this planet, but that does not mean I have to stay this way. Because Jesus died for me, I know that He will not willingly permit me to continue to wallow in my misery. He has a much better plan for my life if I will just allow Him to perform it. I fail so often at doing what is right and true, but I am earnestly trying to honor and love God in every aspect of my life.

I first discovered the amazing sewing and vintage blogging community during a period of my life when I was going through that very, very tough transition from little girl to young woman. I was struck by the passion and beauty that I saw all over the internet. Thus after secretly "stalking" various blogs for a year or two, I have finally decided to participate, grow my skills, and perhaps make a few virtual friends! It has already been quite the adventure. I know that I am still very new to all of this, and I hope that you will forgive my rookie mistakes. If you have any tips or advice I am quite willing to listen to helpful criticisms.

Here are a few things about me that you might not know from first impressions:

  • I am a introvert, or rather, I really do not like interacting with a bunch of strangers. Be around me long enough to earn my trust, and you will have a listening ear whenever you need it. Which leads to my next point.
  • I can listen. God has given me the ability to be one of those people who does not need to be constantly talking. If you want to vent your frustrations, sorrow, happiness or general chattiness on someone, I'm your gal. I will sit there and listen to every word you say whether I agree with it or not. As long as you do not expect me to talk on the phone we will be fine! So if you are feeling lonely or friendless, shoot me an email and we can chat a bit.
  • I really like the Scottish accent and the idea of the Scottish highlands. Someday I want to visit Scotland. We will see what happens with that.
  • I only have two dreams: to get married and to have children. Lofty goals I am sure!
  • I am becoming increasingly tidy as I get older. I used to complain about my mum's cleanliness when I was a child, but now I find that I am almost as "bad" as she is! Almost being the key word. . .
  • I am beginning to develop quite the fabric stash. I really need to go on a fabric diet and use what I already have. But it is SO hard!
  • I am 5' 9" and fully expect my younger brothers to be taller than me.
  • My favorite seasons are fall and spring, but I definitely prefer summer over winter. Too much coldness does not please me.
  • I sincerely appreciate the ocean. Seriously. It is amazing.
  • I have a very particular taste in music that includes: lots of classical, instrumental piano and orchestra, a dash of 1950's rock and roll,  some boogie woogie, and a very few pop songs. A few of my favorite musical artists are; Celtic Thunder, Phil Coulter, Johann Sebastian Bach, Beethoven, Tim Janis, Westlife, and Brahms.
  • I tend to stick with clean movies/tv shows that do not show much if any nudity and have very minimal swearing. I have watched a few movies on my own that I ended up regretting because of the content. Because of that I have risen my standards a bit to make sure that I do not repeat my previous mistake.
