Brijee Patterns Makes A Debut: The Linden Lady

Dear Readers,
I have a rather exciting post for today. I have long aspired to participate in the various pattern testing opportunities that pop up every now and then throughout the sewing pattern world. I signed up for as many testing lists as I can find, and was nearly able to try a Jennifer Lauren pattern. Unfortunately, the list was filled up before I saw it. Imagine my delight when I saw that Brigid Boyer of the Boyer Family Singers was looking for testers! I signed up as quickly as I could and managed to squeak in at the very end. Hooray! I can unashamedly admit that I did a happy dance when I was accepted. Yes, my sister thought that I had thoroughly lost it. I did not care.

Without further ado, allow me to introduce the lovely Linden Lady:

Color Recipes for Spring - Butterick 6018

Dear Readers,
I decided to participate in Emily's Color Recipes for Spring contest at the very end. As I have mentioned before, I have been terribly busy, and I did not think that I would be able to come up with an entry. (I also forgot about it until Esther from Dolly Creates mentioned it in one of her recent posts.) Needless to say, I found time. . . After Emily extended the deadline by three days. Seriously, I would not have been able to consider participating if she had not done that. So, thank you Emily!

I originally spotted this fabric at my local Joann store some time ago. Being the poor child that I am, the $6/yd price was far out of my range. I do not make a habit of buying fabric that is over $2 or $3 per yard. This does limit my choices to the red tag clearance section and to excellent sales that pop up every now and then, but it has never been a problem. Until now. . .

Me-Made-May '15: Days One and Two

Dear Readers,
It is that time of year again. Me-Made-May '15 is up and running! Here is my official pledge:

'I, Emily of Vintage Dreamer, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '15. I shall endeavour to wear at least one piece of me-made clothing each day for the duration of May 2015'

The first two days have already come and gone. For Day One I wore my first variation of Simplicity 1460:

Spring For Cotton: Emerald Pastille Hack

Dear Readers,
I didn't even realize it. My blog is a year old. How did that happen? My first post went live on April 28, 2014 as a result of the much-lauded Me-Made-May that is hosted by Zoe. While this post is not written for the purpose of waxing eloquent over the things I have learned, I did want to mention the happy fact that I have managed to stick with my blog for a year. Unlike the countless journals/diaries that I have begun only to toss them to the side within a few weeks (at the most!), I have remained faithful (albeit sporadically) to this bit of online presence. I can say with all honesty that my experience has been entirely enjoyable!
        Moving on!
I decided that this year I was going to participate in Rochelle's Spring for Cotton sew-a-long. I had many glamourous plans. They did not work out. Instead of being able to introduce a self-drafted dress with the intent of impressing all and sundry; I am quite willing to allow the credit and "glory" go to the very experienced and hardworking independent pattern company: Colette Patterns.

The Promise of Spring: Forget-Me-Not Anna

Dear Readers,
Life is insane. At least insanely busy and wearying. I have been working as a nanny/housemaid for about two months now. This has resulted in having less time to work on various projects. Somehow amongst the craziness that I am happy to call my life, I managed to whip up this simple project:

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you all had a fantastic Valentine's day. Mine was filled with chocolate, caramel, sewing (I am making Photographer Sister a "Valentine's dress that should be up on the blog tomorrow.), a little Downton Abbey(I am not particularly fond of the new season so far. . .), and lots of laughter. I wanted to pop in to wish you all a lovely day and show you my outfit. It is not overtly Valentinesy, as you will see, but I thought it worked out rather well.

These pictures were a rather last minute decision so please excuse the silliness!

Mint Anna

Good Grief!
Time flies much, much too fast when one is busy. But that is life I suppose. Here is another dress that I made over the holiday season: Mint Anna. Or Anna Mint. Whichever you prefer.

Button-Up Colette Pastille Dress

Hello there.
Today is the day. This is the day that the year two-thousand and fourteen officially ends and a new cycle of three-hundred and sixty-five days begin. I am actually really excited about this coming year. Seriously, it is 2015. It ends in a 5. How. Cool. Is. That? Okay, okay, I admit it. I am a little strange, but I like things that end in zeros and fives!
Anyway. . . I do not have a fantastic round-up post planned or an amazing year-end review of life. Instead, I have another dress to show you! I actually made this dress quite some time ago, but with all of the Christmas sewing and knitting that I have been doing, it is a wonder I accomplished anything! Introducing my Button-Up Pastille:

Dimples and Green Twirly Dress

Well, well, well.
Things have been quiet about this old blog of mine. I have been rather busy during the past month or so since I last posted. I decided that I was going to make the majority of my Christmas gifts this year. A brilliant idea I know, except for the fact that I did not start making anything until about mid November. Now a normal person would think that that would be plenty of time to complete a few different projects. As we all know, I am not a normal person. I decided to begin knitting two unnamed objects which were both rather large undertakings.
Add to that the fact that I decided to make Photographer Sister and myself some semi-matching Christmas dresses. We did not decide upon the pattern until about a week ago. Then I had to sew up some test versions and we both had to wear them to see how we liked the fit. Plus I am sewing a bag for each of my little brothers (there are four) and finishing up Dolly's Christmas dress. To sum it up, I have been rather preoccupied. Thankfully I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I have finished everything except for the aforementioned Christmas dresses, (which I will be working on today) one other project, and adding the finishing touches (buttons, blocking and weaving in ends) to the knitting projects.
I am planning a Christmas dresses post, Christmas presents (my gifts to others) post, and possibly a Black Friday/Birthday/Christmas presents (to me) "haul" post or vlog.

Cherries and Fall Leaves

Hello,
Cherries + Leaves + Jumper + Dolly = Cute! Here is another outfit I made for Dolly. Actually, this cherry jumper was the first top that I made. It was just a trial run to make sure that it would be satisfactory for my mum. Needless to say, she considered it acceptable.

Mustard And Grey

Howdy, howdy!
Here is another dress that I made a bit ago, but, due to the lack of the correct thread color, I have just now finished it.

Green and Cream Pastille Dress

I have two projects to show you today: The Colette Pastille Dress, and the Miette Cardigan! I finished this cardigan up a while ago, but never managed to blog about it. Therefore, you get two projects for the price of one!
